A Safer Place to Meet, Share and Make Friends
MyLOL is a social network for ages 13–17 that keeps teen and adult members in completely separate communities. This page explains the controls that exist, how to use them, and what no platform can honestly promise.
If you're a parent or guardian, there's a dedicated page for you too. If something is wrong right now, report it inside the app — reports go to our moderation team.
- Teen and adult communities are separate
- Age assurance at sign-up
- Moderation of reported content
- Report and block in every space

Age separation is the first line of defence
The single most important safety decision on MyLOL is who is allowed in the room. Teen MyLOL is for members 13–17 and Adult MyLOL is for members 18 and over — they are separate environments, not filters on one shared space.
That means an adult member cannot browse teen profiles, appear in teen discovery, join teen groups or send messages to teen members. When a teen member reaches 18, they move to the adult community rather than staying in a space meant for younger members.
Separation is structural. It doesn't depend on a teen noticing something is off and reacting.
Age checks and account review at sign-up
New accounts go through age assurance before they can take part in the community, and being in the wrong age band is a violation rather than an oversight.
No age-checking method in the world is perfect — people can lie, and we won't pretend otherwise. What checks do is raise the cost of getting into the wrong community and give moderators signals to act on when something doesn't add up. Accounts flagged as being in the wrong age range are removed from the teen community.
Moderation and enforcement
Content on MyLOL is subject to moderation, and anything a member reports is reviewed by our moderation team against the Community Guidelines.
Rules that apply everywhere
Profiles, photos, posts and messages all sit under the same Community Guidelines, in every part of the network.
Reports go to people
A report puts the profile, message, photo or post in front of our moderation team rather than into a void.
Reported content is prioritised
Member reports go into a queue moderators work through, with serious reports handled ahead of the rest.
Enforcement that escalates
Depending on what happened, outcomes range from content removal and warnings to feature limits and permanent removal.
The controls you have as a member
You should never feel stuck in a conversation you don't want. These tools are always available, and using them doesn't require anyone's permission.
- 1Block anyone. They lose the ability to message you or interact with your page, and you don't have to explain yourself.
- 2Report a profile, message, photo, comment or group post directly from where you saw it.
- 3Tighten who can contact you and what your page shows in your privacy settings.
- 4Leave any group at any time, and delete comments or guestbook messages on your own page.
- 5Keep private details private — school name, exact address, phone number, class schedule and live location don't belong in a public profile.
Teen profiles are not public web pages
MyLOL is a private network, not an open directory. Member profiles sit behind the account wall — there is no public member directory you can browse from the open web, and nobody without an account in your community can read your page.
The pages you can reach without an account, like this one, are marketing and information pages. Anything belonging to a member sits behind the account wall.
What we can't promise
Any service that tells you it's 100% safe is selling you something. We'd rather be straight with you.
People can lie about who they are. Moderation catches a lot, but not instantly and not everything. Someone can be perfectly polite for a week and then say something that isn't okay. So alongside our controls, the habits matter: keep personal details out of early conversations, be suspicious of anyone who pushes you to move to another app, asks for photos, asks for money, or wants secrecy — and report it instead of handling it alone.
If you ever feel unsafe or pressured, tell an adult you trust as well as reporting it to us. That isn't overreacting, and you won't get in trouble for it.
For parents and guardians
Parents deserve specifics, not reassurance. Our parents page covers what MyLOL is, how the age separation works, what your teen can control, and how to contact us about an account or a report.
Safety summary
The short version of everything above, in one place.
13–17 only
Teen MyLOL is age-restricted and separate from the adult community.
Checked at the door
Age assurance runs at sign-up, and accounts in the wrong age range are removed.
Moderated content
Content is subject to the Community Guidelines, and reports are reviewed by our team.
Always reportable
Every profile, message, photo and post can be reported or blocked.
Behind the account wall
No public member directory — member pages are only visible inside the member's own community.
Clear rules
The Community Guidelines say what's allowed and what happens when it isn't.
No online community can promise perfect safety, and we do not claim to. What we can do is reduce risk with real controls, act on reports, and be clear about how the community works.
Safety questions we get asked
- Can adults message teens on MyLOL?
- No. Adult members are in a separate community and cannot browse, contact or interact with members in the teen community.
- What happens when I report someone?
- The report goes to our moderation team for review. Depending on what's found, outcomes range from content removal and warnings to permanent removal from MyLOL.
- Does blocking someone tell them?
- Blocking is designed to stop contact, not to start an argument. You never owe anyone an explanation for blocking them.
- Can my parents see my account?
- MyLOL is your account, but we publish a parents page so families can understand how the community works, and parents can contact us about an account or a safety concern.
- Is MyLOL 100% safe?
- No service can honestly say that. We separate teens from adults, run age assurance at sign-up, moderate content against our Guidelines and act on reports — and we also expect members to keep personal details private and report anything that feels wrong.
Join the teen community
Make a profile, join a couple of groups and start talking to people your own age. The safety tools are there from the first minute, not something you unlock later.
